Youth Take The Stage...
…is an exciting new program directed to providing opportunities for talented youth to do what they love – PERFORM!
What makes Youth Take the Stage Unique?
YOUTH TAKE THE STAGE (or YttS) is a unique and innovative program that is directed toward celebrating the extraordinary talent of youth throughout the Coachella Valley and ensuring that they have the opportunity to perform in public.
One of the most exciting aspects of this program is that it offers the chance for youth from different valley programs — or no program at all — to come together and do what they love – PERFORM!
Theatre companies, dance companies, school performance groups, after-school programs, and, even the self-taught independent artists (solos, bands, group acts, etc.) are welcome!
This program spans a variety of genres – acting, singing, dancing, playing instruments, or performing any of a multitude of other entertainment forms, such as magic, juggling, comedy, and more.
The limits are set only by the talents of our valley youth which, of course, have no limit when given the right opportunities.
If you (as a Coachella Valley youth) have the desire to perform and have an audience-ready performance piece (A-RPP), this program can put you in front of an audience!

In short, candidates prepare a video of their performance piece.
Next, complete a submission form that includes a link to the performance piece video.
To qualify for inclusion in the program, a selection committee reviews submitted videos to assess readiness to perform before an audience.
If deemed audience-ready, you’ll be contacted to be scheduled for an upcoming performance date.

WHY SHOULD I TRUST THIS? WHO IS BEHIND IT?
Not surprisingly, the same people who, for 25 years now, have brought the desert leading-edge, theatre-based education programs for youth – Childrens Playtime Productions (CPP).
- discovering new forms of self-expression;
- realizing talents previously hidden;
- feeling safe to step outside of the box;
- finding passion and enthusiasm in what they do;
- gaining self-esteem and confidence,
- taking pride in work well done; and, in turn,
- understanding the importance of commitment, responsibility, dedication, integrity, teamwork, support, respect, and appreciation for others.
SO I GET TO PERFORM – WHAT ELSE WILL I GET OUT OF THIS EXPERIENCE?
In addition to the many benefits participation in theatre-based programs provide (see above), YttS is educational in its own original ways.
Participants learn what it takes to create their own audience-ready performance piece (A-RPP), as well as gain an understanding of what is needed to get before the public and allow themselves to shine!
If a submission is deemed not “audience-ready”, constructive critiquing is given and guidance and tips for improvement are offered.
Though work on improving the piece is not part of this program, for candidate submissions that are not audience-ready candidates are offered the opportunity to work on the piece as part of a different CPP/Youtheatre Players program, or are directed to teaching resources (vocal coaches, etc.), or to other valley programs.
I’M NOT A PERFORMER, BUT I LOVE THIS IDEA TOO MUCH NOT TO HELP! HOW CAN I?
HOW IS ALL THIS POSSIBLE?
This innovative new program is made possible through a grant generously provided by the Anderson Children’s Foundation and is presented under CPP’s newly minted Youtheatre Players offshoot.
